A two-story Victorian library lit by low sunlight through tall windows

Independent game studio

Rooms with a past.

MediaCity Games builds Victorian interiors for real-time engines — the rooms of The Inheritance of Crimson Manor, dressed by hand and lit to be walked through.

About the studio

We are a small team making The Inheritance of Crimson Manor, a first-person mystery set in a late-Victorian country house.

Every room in the manor was built for the game first: modelled, textured, dressed and lit until it held up to a player standing in the doorway with nowhere else to look. That work is what this studio does, and it is what this site is about.

How the rooms are made

Dressed, not assembled

Bookcases are filled book by book, desks have drawers with things in them, and nothing is placed on a grid. A room is finished when it looks lived in.

Lit in real time

Sunlight enters only through the windows, picks up dust on the way in and moves the curtains. No baked lightmaps, so a room looks the same the moment it is opened.

Built to be reused

Every chair, book, lamp and wall panel is its own clean, named piece with sensible pivots, colliders and levels of detail — usable well beyond the room it came from.

From the manor

The library and the study, as they appear in the engine.
